How to eliminate spam

Tired of getting spam in bulk mail folder ?

These are the two options available in Yahoo mail to counter spam apart from marking individual mail as spam. In the begining it may not appear much effective but regular application can reduce much of the spam mail. Copy this text on your desktop for easy reference.

First login to your yahoo mail. Locate and click on options at the top right corner. In Yahoo Mail Beta it is options > mail options click ok to confirm. A separate Mail options window opens. Both the options below are available in mail options.



Create filters

Locate and click on Filters.

A new page opens.
Locate and click on Add button.
Type a name for your filter.
Now type the text to filter for in either one or all of the boxes: from, to in the header, the subject or the body of the mail. You can decide if the mail contains, or does not contain, begins with or ends with a certain word.
If you are receiving a lot of spam mail having viagra in the subject
then Add viagra in the text box in front of subject box.

Leave the match case unchecked.

After that decide where the mail will go. You can choose to send the mail in any of the folders in your mailbox including trash folder. The mail in the trash folder remain there for a while before they are automatically deleted.
If you want the mail containing a certain word should be deleted then select the folder named trash as below.
Then-Move The message
To- select trash from the list.
Press Add Filter button when done.You can also edit or delete a filter. You can set as many as 15 filters in yahoo mail.

Block email addresses

Locate Block Addresses in the mail options window and click on it.
A new page opens, Locate and click on Add block.
Type or copy and paste the email address to be blocked.
Click on Add block.
The address should appear in the box below.
That's it.
You can block as many as 500 addresses in Yahoo Mail.

If you write just the domain name of the email address, then all addresses coming from that domain will be blocked.

How to remove an address from the blocked list

To Unblock an address, find the address in the box, select it and press Unblock .
